Changing the World One Person at a Time

Changing the World One Person at a Time - Spirit Weaver Journeys - Bali, Indonesia

I just finished watching the movie: ‘Hector’s Search for Happiness’ for the second time. There are so many gems in this movie. The scene on the airplane when he is helping a woman who is in severe pain due to her recent brain surgery is quite powerful. She is having an adverse effect due to the high altitude, so he asks the pilot if he can bring the plane down to a lower altitude. Hector carries her to first class; as she lays beside him, she shares a beautiful dream about seeing all her loved ones on a merry go round.

Hector listens to her with total presence and compassion. After they get off the plane she tells him that he has a gift for listening — that listening is love. I have never heard anyone say this before — these words touched me deeply, opening me up to what little acts that we can all do for someone that could facilitate a different possibility for that person? What if a kind word or compassionate listening could actually help someone find freedom from pain or illness? I asked my husband who was sitting under the stars amidst the beauty of his bonsais” “If everyone did something to make just one person happy every day, what would the world be like?” He said, “PEACE” without hesitation. And there it is so simple, yet somehow so many people have forgotten that this gift of love, whether it is deeply listening, offering guidance or healing or just helping an old woman get safely across the road, these acts of kindness contribute to not only the person we are helping but to our own happiness.

It opens our hearts, gets us out of our self pity and victimhood, and allows us to see the possibilities of creating a new world that is far better than this current reality of greed, fear, war & hatred. Each emotion that we have has a vibration. Emotions such as love, joy, contentment, understanding, forgiveness and honor all vibrate at a very high frequency. Whereas other emotions such as fear, rage, jealousy, hatred and sadness vibrate at a much lower frequency. The key is to elevate not only our vibration, but the vibration of the collective consciousness through positive actions such as being kind to others and maintaining positive thoughts for ourselves and others. People often ask me if I have a spiritual practice.

Do I get up every day and meditate, practice yoga or do Chi Gong? Honestly I can’t say that I do these on a daily basis. What has become my practice and what I am committed to doing every day is to facilitate the possibility of happiness for others through random acts of kindness. Most days this manifests through the work that I do with my clients, but I also do this for people who aren’t my clients — friends, loved ones and acquaintances. So this is my practice and my commitment: I Michele Cempaka will strive to do at least one act of kindness for someone. I will choose positive thoughts and cancel and delete any negative thoughts.

I will appreciate all the little things in my life that bring me joy. I will strive to be really present and listen to what my children, husband, clients, friends, acquaintances and even strangers communicate to me. None of this will be a burden. None of this will be a challenge for me, because all of these choices will bring me closer to my higher consciousness and expand the possibilities of how we as a collective consciousness can change the world.

And so it is. Blessed be. Aho!
